“Yet another example of a major utility company failing to keep us updated” Cobham Road Fetcham reopen Monday evening

Update and criticism of utility services communication from senior SCC councillor:

Cllr David Lewis

Closure of Cobham Road, Fetcham:

Update : As most residents will be aware, Cobham Road has been closed between Stoke d’Abernon and Fetcham over this weekend. This has been due to emergency works being carried out by SES Water for the essential and immediate repair of a leaking water main.I have been frustrated by the lack of information from the utility company relating to this project.Surrey Highways have, however, been able to inform me that the excavation site was being backfilled earlier this afternoon. Reinstatement will be completed with tarmac which will need to cure. Once this has happened, the road will be reopened. This is planned to occur later this evening (Monday) but after the peak traffic flow.

I apologise to all residents for the inconvenience that has been caused. Emergency situations happen but this is yet another example of a major utility company failing to keep us updated on what is going on. It is totally unacceptable.”
