Police presence in Leatherhead after ‘isolated incident between individuals known to eachother’ 19 May

“You may have noticed a significant police presence on Barnett Close, #Leatherhead today as we investigate an assault that occurred in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called to a residential address at 4.10am after reports that a man in his 40s had been assaulted. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and has since been discharged.

A 35-year-old man from Leatherhead has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Detective Sergeant Helen Cooper said: “We know the ongoing police presence on Barnett Close is likely to cause some concern in our community and we want to reassure residents we believe this to be an isolated incident between individuals that are known to each other. Our team is continuing to work hard to understand the full circumstances of the assault and we’re asking anyone with information that could help us, including CCTV or dashcam footage in the area between 3am and 4.10am, to please contact us quoting PR/45240056315.

“As part of our investigation, we are conducting enquiries at a second address on Randalls Park Avenue. Officers will remain in the area throughout today and if you have any questions, please do speak with them.”
