9-17 Church Street Leatherhead planning application approved

The former Englishman’s Castle shop in Church Street Leatherhead now has the permission the landlord applied for to operate takeaway as well as eat in, if the prospective tenants are in the food and beverage category. No permission is needed for a shop to switch to a restaurant or other commercial use. The agreement was essentially a formality as other similar arrangements are in place nearby.

The former Barclays ground floor is also described as under offer by the same landlord Hague Investments who in recent years has attracted Waitrose Skoops and KFC / Taco Bell to their portfolio.

We think a food and beverage use is likely for both units but only one needing takeaway consent.

Both businesses would if informed speculation is correct bring significant footfall to the town centre year-round

Two planters look to be in reserve for a potential outside table area at the ex Barclays. The upper floors are undergoing residential conversion.
