Vet closes Leatherhead branch with immediate effect May 2024

The lights were on at the former Winton Lodge vets practice in Copthorne Road Leatherhead through Thursday evening as the last few voters came to the polling station at the Catholic hall opposite, many on their evening dog walk.

(Some voters and their dogs, from the Kingston Avenue area, now in Leatherhead South ward were redirected to their current polling place at Fairfield Centre and those from St Johns Close to the FortyFoot hall).

But pet owners are also now directed to other Medivet practices eg Epsom as the former Winton Lodge vets suddenly closed on Friday :

Customers of the practice commenting on social media suggest the practice was sold relatively recently to Medivet, and the company has opted to close the site, it is reported with little if any notice to the staff either. Some customers said they had been contacted but others with forward appointments had not. Medivet has a branch nearby at Craddocks Parade Ashtead as well as in Epsom https://www.medivetgroup.com/vet-practices/ashtead/

We will update this article on our blog website http://www.newleatherheadliving.wordpress.com if further information comes to light.

Most of the planning history of the site is listed under its original donor property 37 St Johns Avenue. The current, small single storey building was erected after 2008 on land between 37 and no.74 Copthorne. Replacing a previous timber shed used for veterinary surgery.
